Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery: Facts You Need to Know

Brazilian butt lift surgery is a butt augmentation procedure which increases the butt volume and allows crafting of the buttocks to the desired shape. It is one of the most sought-after cosmetic surgery. Prior to looking for medical practitioners who are specializing in Brazilian butt lift, here are facts you need to know.

Pre surgery

Before deciding to undergo the procedure, you need to talk to your surgeon to ensure that you are healthy enough. You also need to avoid taking blood thinners, smoking, and sunbathing at least two weeks before the surgery. You are not supposed to eat or drink anything on the night before the procedure. On the day of the surgery, you have to undergo a pregnancy test.

After the procedure, you will have to use a compression garment plan for a number of weeks. You are also not supposed to directly sit on your buttocks for a minimum of 6 weeks post-surgery. There are some things you need to buy which you will need to use after the surgery. You need baby wipes since you cannot shower right after the surgery, vitamins and protein shake for your body’s repair, a BBL or breastfeeding pillow for sitting, and a stool softener.

The procedure

BBL consists of two procedures: liposuction and a fat transfer. Liposuction is when fat is removed from selected areas of the body for grafting in the buttocks. Small fat particles are believed to make the best grafts. Thighs, stomach, and the back are the most common liposuction areas. Next, the fat is centrifuged to extract the donor cells. The best donor cells are selected, and then they are injected into the buttocks via some thin tubes known as cannulas. It takes 3 hours, but it might take longer depending on the amounts of fat that need to be extracted and the level of increase you need on your butt.

Recovery process

After the surgery, there are some do’s and don’ts you have to adhere to. The dos are; sleep on your side, wear a compression garment on the donor site areas of your body to prevent the loose skin from sagging, get some massages to prevent swelling and bruising.

The don’ts are; do not sit for at least two weeks, and do not engage in strenuous activities for the first month. Most people are in a position to resume normal duties after a month without any complications.

Ideal BBL candidates

BBL boosts the butts of people who feel unsatisfied about how theirs look like. The right BBL candidate has to be healthy, have good skin elasticity. You also need to discuss the donor sites, and how much fat you need. If you have any allergies, it is important to inform your surgeon.
