All of the photographs (hockey and others) were produced in black
& white and were unnumbered. There was a printed autograph overlaying the
Group 1 and 2 photos. Group 3 photos had a nameplate inscribed with the player name.
Some player photos had slight variations in them. For example … the
name might be spelled two ways (Alan/Allan) for the same photo pose, or it could be
printed in a different location or style.
In addition, a players
stock of photos could become depleted through its demand. If this
happened another new photo would be taken of the player. Sometimes the original
photo negative would be re-used to create a new photo. This would
occasionally create a slightly
different variation of the player photo (dark background, reversed negative).
These variations can be
divided into five categories: Photograph, Uniform, Name, Stick and
Autograph variations.
