Orland Kurtenbach - Born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan in 1936. Orland was a big and tough, two-way centre who was a leader both on and off the ice. He played 13 NHL seasons with the Rangers (1960-61, 66-70), Bruins (1961-65), Maple Leafs (1965-66) and Canucks  (1970-74).

In 1968-69 with New York, he sustained a severe back injury that required a spinal fusion. He missed the entire season except for two games. During the 1970 NHL expansion draft, Vancouver claimed Orland from the Rangers and his fortunes changed. He was named as the inaugural captain of Vancouver, a position he held until he retired in 1974. Had his most productive season in 1970-71 with Vancouver, scoring 53 points in just 52 games. The next season he topped those numbers with 24 goals and 61 points in a full season.

He also coached the Canucks from 1976-78. He then moved to Richmond, B.C., and ran a general insurance business, as well as starting up a driving range in nearby Surrey. Orland also worked as a stockbroker in White Rock, B.C.
